During a training flight, a Focke-Wulf 58 of the "Luftwaffe" with 4 young Wehrmacht soldiers hit the surface of Lake Bourget, Savoie. Only two soldiers are rescued by fishermen. In gratitude, the German command freed four prisoners from the region following the choice of the villagers who wished this solution rather than war money.
