A commando of twelve supporters of French Algeria launched Operation Charlotte Corday in order to assassinate President Charles de Gaulle.
Just after 20h, the commando opened fire on the presidential DS about three hundred meters before the roundabout at Petit Clamart. The front tires of the vehicle are punctured, but the driver will manage to reach the airfield Velizy-Villacoublay. The president and his wife will be out of danger.
